With a certain storm named Irene getting set to hit the east coast with a vengeance this weekend, the folks at MTV are apparently working hard to ensure that some of their most valuable assets — the cast of “Jersey Shore” — are able to make it to the 2011 Video Music Awards without much of a problem.
According to new reports, the network chartered a private jet on Friday night, and made certain that Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Deena Cortese, Vinny Guadagnino, and Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola were on board to head out to Hollywood. (As for the other four cast members, they were already in other parts of the country making appearances.)
The VMAs are typically the top broadcast of the year for the cable network, but the “Shore” lately has been giving them a run for their money. With almost 8.5 million people watching the show Thursday night, it delivered the best 18-49 audience (in a 4.5 rating) for pretty much the entire summer.
Would you have missed the cast of they were not at the VMAs? Stay tuned, as we will have more from Sunday’s new episode of the show (designed to be a lead-in to the awards broadcast) as soon as we find out more information.
