I agree that season 5 needs a complete overhaul. Season 4 seemed to be more of an experiment than anything else. First there were the breakups of all the core relationships that made the show great. That was a miserable failure that upset fans of all ages. The newbies? Another failure. No one embraced the new characters because we watch the show to see the key characters who were not featured this season like Mercedes and Quinn. Splitting time between NY and Lima? It didn't quite work the way the writers were hoping because fans simply have no interest in the newbies. Rachel and Brody? It worked because they had chemistry just like Rachel and Finn. Brittany and Sam? NO chemistry whatsoever!! It doesn't work, yet the writers keep trying to force it... which only makes it worse. At least Brittany and Santana had chemistry, plus their relationship touched on some very important social issues that needed to be explored in much greater depth. Finn in college? A brilliant move.... BUT.... why now? Wouldn't that have been a great way to start Finn's storyline at the beginning of the season instead of the ridiculous army failure/wanderer storyline? There were too many problems with this season of Glee, and I hope that Ryan Murphy and the rest of the writers can undo the damage by giving season 5 a focus AND by bringing the show back to basics. Bring back the relationships that peak fans' interests, and focus more on the original characters who made the show what it was. The rest of the main characters will graduate and move on from McKinley High. The show should do the same instead of forcing new characters on us in order to keep the McKinley storyline alive. Back in the 90s, the 90210 characters graduated from high school, and instead of bringing a bunch of new characters into the mix, the show focused on the lives of the main characters in college and beyond. The same is true of Buffy in the early 2000s. Joss Whedon focused on Buffy and her friends' lives beyond high school. Maybe Glee should do the same.

I have watched every episode - most more than once. And I am ready for "Glee" to end if Murphy & Co. can't improve the story lines and writing.

I'll watch whatever episodes Murphy puts out, but I wish "Glee" were more exciting than the annual Christmas letter from relatives I've never met

Hindsight is always 20-20, and they probably should just ditch the WMHS scenes and get the remaining popular characters such as Brittany (fashion school?) and Artie (film school) to New York.

I like Marley, Kitty, Jake and Ryder, but not in the same way I love Brittany, Santana, Kurt and Finn. I don't think I'm alone or the show would be increasing its ratings, and I don't think that's the case.

It's just the loyal viewers like me that keep it going. We're deeply invested in Finchel, Brittana, Klaine, etc., and aren't going to change.

I think you are right on with Ryan Murphy wanting as much out of the seniors as he can, because the truth is once they graduate no one is really going to care as much about the whole Lima HS SL. Glee is trying to showcase too many characters, they need to get back to the core group of characters that everyone fell in love with and give them the proper focus. It was their hard work and long hours that made Glee what is was, it's sad to see those characters and the actors that made them so endering being treated the way they have been treated in S4.
