If you want yet another reason to be excited about the MTV Video Music Awards coming up, here it is — the show is going to provide us with an opportunity to watch a new episode of “Jersey Shore” several days early.
Rather than make viewers wait until Thursday to check out the aftermath of a rather epic fight involving Ronnie Magro and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, we will start to see how some of it is resolved on Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time. The show is MTV’s highest-rated original series, and it should serve as a rather valuable lead-in to a VMA broadcast that tends to be full of surprises. (Last year, the ceremony pulled in more than 11 million viewers — this time, it figures to be even higher with Lady Gaga serving as the opening act.)
Do you think this is a good move for MTV to make, or do you think “Shore” fans are not going to figure out the change in time to watch? (The network is going to repeat Sunday’s episode on September 1, when it was originally set to air.)
