‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: Who’s returning as a series regular?

Walking DeadLet’s start this article off with a warning: if you have not watched the season 3 finale for “The Walking Dead” just yet, you really are better off if you stop reading. Otherwise, have fun!

There were some surprising deaths in the episode Sunday night in both Andrea and Milton, but what may be the most surprising of all was seeing who somehow ended up surviving: The Governor. Despite really gunning down countless people and going completely bonkers, the villain (originally thought to just be a Big Bad for the season by some) found a way to survive. Now, we’re getting official word that he will be back for more zombie action moving forward.

Sources have confirmed that David Morrissey has officially signed on to reprise his role as the character for season 4, and will also be a series regular. For those who liked the character and also Morrissey’s interpretation, this is definitely some pretty fantastic news. In addition to that, this is also an opportunity for the show to really shake up what some common expectations are for it. It appears as though we are not going to see a major shift in setting this time around, and in addition to that, there may not be as large of an influx of new characters. At this point last year we already knew that Danai Gurira had signed on to play the role of Michonne, but there were no major casting scoops revealed on the night.

Production of “The Walking Dead” is already starting to amp up, with new showrunner Scott M. Gimple replacing the departing Glen Mazzara. Expect there to be more action, more drama, and of course plenty of surprises as we try to see how Rick and his band of survivors continue to stay afloat in a world without hope.
