If you watched “Bachelor Pad” Monday night, then odds are you were witness to one of the strangest endings we have ever seen. Rather than actually show us for sure whether or not Jake Pavelka was leaving the show, host Chris Harrison merely said Kasey’s name, and then we were taken straight into a commercial break.
Now, Harrison does seem to be proclaiming what so many of us thought was true Monday — that the former “Bachelor” Jake is in fact that guy who went home. Writing on his Entertainment Weekly blog after the episode, here is what the host had to say about the elimination:
“Jake came into this game at a huge disadvantage and a massive target on his back. He made one last ditch effort to save himself and everybody else from the power couples, but for some reason the stragglers couldn’t pull it together, and much to the delight of Kasey and Vienna, Jake went down. He really only has himself to blame. That very first week if he hadn’t given Vienna the rose, things would have been much different. Now with Jake gone, the power couples are only that much stronger.”
As for why producers decided to edit this in such a way, it’s pretty easy to figure out — they want to keep people watching for as long as possible, and there is still some suspense for next week as to what Jake is going to do following his elimination. Anything for ratings, right?
Do you still think it is strange that Harrison is so open about Jake’s exit on the blog, even though it was rather ambiguous on the show itself?
