I agree with some of the other comments I found Dan Stevens comments to be snarky and egotistical, go by all means but do so in a more gentleman like manner. I personally think he asked for more money and got turned down he seems to be a little bitter for someone who left of his own accord. I will be back in 2014 and can hardly wait.

I am as hooked on this series as everyone else; however, I believe I understand how dangerous it is for an actor to stay too long & become pigeon-holed into being recognized and accepted for ‘one character’ only. Consider the Star Trek series. It was extremely difficult to envision many of those actors in any other role. Few succeeded in creating diversity in their careers. I wouldn’t want that for anyone who enjoys their craft. I grieved the loss of Sybil nd Matthew in this dynamic story but the saga will go on. There is still a great story to be told. Good job, Mr. Fellowes!

I totally agree with Andrew, poor decision, I read all the comments and I am so far the only one who remembers him as Edward Ferrars in Sense and Sensebility on PBS, the same role played by Hugh Grant in the Movie screen version. So He is a real fool, success went to his head, I am sorry to say but I cal him an ego-maniac and his comments prove my point, he may have found his, a little more than his 15 minutes of fame, but he gave up a golden globe winning opportunity of his career. bye bye Dan, You killed yourself off!!! As for Lady Syble, never saw her before, may not again, but she gave Alan Leech the opportunity to show what a tremendously good actor he is,Good job -Branson, “TOM”

I can’t believe Dan Leave is leaving! He is one of few that made the show worth watching. I thought for sure that the car crash would paralyze him, but die?

The ending sacks terribly. That was a bad writing. Killing Mathiew and him quitting in his Fans. That won’t fly with Americans at all.

As a stateside viewer, I didn’t know the actor’s name until I read the posts about him quitting the show post-mortem. If he’s looking for more fame, he probably should have stuck it out longer. If he is looking for variety, maybe he did make the right decision. It is very strange to Americans to only be able to count on actors to be in a show for three seasons because of contracts. It is very rare for a main character on a show to leave so suddenly. It shows a lack of respect for the fans and the people involved in the production of the show. Fans are not likely to reward that with more loyalty .

Good luck to Dan Stevens and our love and support to Michelle Dockery. AS amazing and talented female actor I have alot of faith on her caring on Downton Abbey with the help and collaboration of the talented writings of Julian Fellows.IMHO as long as Michelle is still in Downton Abbey it will go on.

Recently got hooked on Downton abbey love the series so disappointing when actors decide to leave a show when that show made them a star. Dan Stevens I hope you don’t regret. So sad also maybe they should cast some else in his shames role, it could work they have done it successfully in other series
