In case you haven’t seen it, a new video first appeared on YouTube last month showing actress Evan Rachel Wood (known by many for her stint as Queen Sophie-Anne on “True Blood“) belting out a rather incredible version of Justin Bieber’s “U Smile” while at a karaoke bar.
As for how this came about, the actress explains that her turn in viral-video stardom came out a bit at random — but she had a great time doing it:
“I was in China randomly — I know, it’s already weird [laughs] — and I’m a big karaoke fan and I also love Justin Bieber unashamedly … So the whole catalogue was basically in the karaoke machine, so I started singing ‘U Smile’ and my friend started filming it. We didn’t really have a plan to put it online; it just kind of happened. And then once that was up, it was like, Well, screw it, let’s put the Janis one up, too. I never do stuff like that, so it’s kind of fun to once in a while just be like, Look, you don’t have to take yourself so seriously ALL the time. Here’s me singing Justin Bieber! Lighten up, everyone!”
While Bieber is currently in the process of recording some more music from his highly-anticipated upcoming album, Evan is getting set to promote the upcoming movie “The Ides of the March,” which is expected to draw plenty of awards-show buzz thanks to performances by both George Clooney and Ryan Gosling.
Would you ever sing karaoke of anyone on camera?
