‘Glee’: Naya Rivera unsure of season 5 fate; Lea Michele already confirmed

“Glee” is currently in a rather interesting place moving forward to the end of the season: not only do we not know how the show is going to end, it’s also currently unclear just who among the McKinley High community is actually going to return for another year of new episodes. The show has not officially been renewed for a season 5, but this is pretty much a given at the moment considering the show’s ratings, DVR figures, and the money it brings in on iTunes and through merchandising.

So will Naya Rivera be a part of the story? Even though her character Santana is currently with Rachel and Kurt in New York City, nothing is confirmed just yet as to what she will be doing. With that being said, Rivera tells TV Guide in a new interview that if she has her way, we will be seeing plenty more of a certain Ms. Lopez on the show moving forward:

“You never really know what they plan on doing … I think we’ve been on the show a really long time; I wasn’t really sure what they were going to do with Santana, but I think that her story line is evolving and there is more to tell. So yeah, I’d absolutely be down to be around for some portion of that. But there is the album stuff that I desperately want to get done. It’s just a matter of finding a balance.”

Lea Michele is one of the actors who is actually signed on for all of the first six seasons, and there are some others on the cast that are, as well. However, one thing to remember is that Ryan Murphy has the freedom to cut any actor on the show if he so chooses, just as he also has the prerogative to keep someone around if he appreciates the work that they are putting in.
