Mrs. Carter: Sad news breaking from the world of “Survivor.”
After ten years of being together, former winners Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca (who were also contestants on a recent season of “The Amazing Race”) announced on Monday that they were ending their relationship. For those who follow the show’s community closely, this was an announcement that was at least somewhat expected. Jenna has been rather quiet about her personal life in a number of recent interviews, and has even suggested on Rob Cesternino’s podcast recently that she was looking forward to starting a new chapter in her life.
Obviously, the couple made a good many headlines over the past couple of years, as Zohn battled a rare form of cancer known as Hodkin’s lymphoma with Morasca at his side. Zohn underwent a stem-cell transplant in early 2012, and has since been on the mend as he continue to support cancer awareness along with his Grassroots Soccer charity.
In a statement to People Magazine confirming the news, here is what the couple had to say about the split:
“We will carry with us the memories of a relationship grounded in love, laughter, support and friendship.
“We have experienced some of life’s greatest joys and toughest challenges together and our decision to be apart can never diminish that,” the couple said. “We want to thank everyone for their support and we ask that our privacy be respected as we move forward.”
“Survivor” has ironically led to more successful couples than a dating show out there in “The Bachelor,” as some other notable contestants including Rob Mariano, Kim Powers, and Whitney Duncan have all either married or got engaged to people from within the show’s community.
