After watching the first two episodes this season, it is clear that community doesn't really have much more to give. Not too surprised about the ratings drop going into ep 2. One can certainly blame it on valentines day, especially since it is an oddly placed Halloween ep. That naturally leads to blaming the delayed season start. One can then choose to blame Dan Harmon not being there, and maybe Chevy causing problems and/or leaving.. I personally prefer to blame the quality of the show at this point. I loved these characters right from the beginning, but now the stories are just embarking on self indulgence for self indulgence sake. Playing on one note repeatedly, as smart or zany as it may be, is still just the same note over and over. Who knows, maybe there is a large enough of an audience that will embrace that. We'll certainly see what the ratings for ep3 bring, and I will be extremely shocked if they don't see another significant drop in ratings.

It was an okay episode, but you can pretty much sense there's "something missing" in Season 4. Definitely the weakest Halloween episode.

1) The Troy and Britta pairing doesn't work. It never has. They have zero chemistry together. Why did anyone think this was a good idea? After last episode's water fountain fight, I start to cringe when they have scenes alone together.

2) I never thought the "awwws" were funny to begin with.

3) It was a weird and awkward scene. Let's just leave it at that.

As for some good parts? I liked Shirley in this episode. I also liked the back and forth between Jeff and Britta. My wife laughed (she doesn't like Community) when she saw Dean Pelton come in.

"I remember when this show was about a community college" - I could have sworn I heard this joke in a prior episode.
