Good news for longtime fans of “American Idol” — in particular season 8 contestant Scott MacIntyre. On Thursday, it was announced that the former finalist has married his longtime girlfriend Christina Teich. There were around 200 guests who actually attended the ceremony, which was held in Scottsdale, Arizona.
In a statement (per E!), MacIntyre discussed his emotions leading up to the big day — in addition to announcing the fact that his self-composed wedding song (“I Wanna Be There”) is now available on iTunes:
“Christina is a beautiful person, whom I have known since well before Idol. She is my soul mate and the best way I know how to express my feelings for her is with a special song for this special day. ‘I Wanna Be There’ is about staying committed to someone through happiness, sorrow, tears and laughter. That’s the relationship we have, and I’m excited to share the song at our wedding.”
MacIntyre and his new bride will soon be celebrating their honeymoon in Hawaii.
Are you happy for the singer, and what do you think about his decision to sell the song that he recorded just for his big day?
