Earlier this month, we wrote a piece about a rather touching story — a young boy in the Philippines named Arjohn Gilbert who not only became a worldwide star after a video was recorded of him singing on the street, but received an offer to perform with one of the biggest pop stars in the country in Charice Pempengco.
As it turns out, now Charice is not the only one with an interest in performing with Arjohn. Speaking out in a new interview with show “TV Patrol,” apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas (who also hails from the country) had this to say about wanting the opportunity to work with Gilbert:
“I want to be the guy to first work with him. I’ll be jealous if somebody else first does … I give him the best. If he needs help, I’m here.”
Arjohn’s story ultimately echoes that of so many other pop stars now who were discovered thanks to the internet — a list that includes Justin Bieber, Grayson Chance, and even to an extent Charice herself. These are people now that the world wants to root for, which makes them able to connect with audiences right away and sell countless records.
Do you think this youngster has a big career no matter who he works with?
