Mrs Carter: Is anyone an actual “wife” on these “housewives” series anymore?
With so many “Real Housewives” stars divorcing and separating from their partners these days, we wonder if the title of these Bravo shows should be changed to the “Real Divorcees of blah blah blah”. Reports from TMZ reveal that former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Lynne Curtin has filed for divorce from her husband Frank Curtin after being together for 22 years. In the court documents, Lynne cited the staple “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for divorce and asked for spousal support from her husband.
Lynne originally announced her separation from Frank in May of 2012, telling Radar: “I love Frank but it was time to go out on my own. Who knows what the future holds, but I’m looking forward to doing the things that I want to do.” Although Lynne was trying to move forward in her life without Frank by her side, she has said that she was not a willing participant in the separation.
During the fourth and fifth seasons of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” Lynne and Frank’s financial problems became a major story line on the hit Bravo show, but no one has implied that the financial troubles, or even having their life on television was any part of the reason that their marriage fell apart after 22 years. We would suspect that having one of the most difficult times in your life being broadcasted into every home in America (and Canada for that matter) would take it’s toll on any relationship, but after 22 years of marriage we were hoping that these two would be able to find a way to work through things, especially now that they have their privacy back.
