‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 3: Paul Wesley talks Stefan ‘losing himself’

It’s a different sort of season.

We know that the next batch of “The Vampire Diaries” episodes starting September 15 are going to be a bit different tonally from what we have seen in the past — and now, we know to what extent that just so happens to be true.

Speaking in a new interview with E! News, Paul Wesley claims that his character of Stefan is not done yet when it comes to his slow descent into darkness:

“We’re going to open up [the new season] with Stefan in the middle of almost losing it. And we get to watch the development of that as the season progresses. We see him slowly losing himself.”

Much of the early portion of this season is going to focus on this character traveling around with Klaus — who we know is only going to do his absolute best to confuse him even further. To make matters worse for the character, Damon is also going to be relatively preoccupied with spending more time with Nina Dobrev’s Elena that he may not necessarily put his best efforts into trying to save Stefan from whatever fate awaits him.
