Think of the episode “Trilogy time” that happens in 2015 (probably in April or May). In this episode, Ted already has his daughter, which means the mother figured out she was pregnant around July 2014. So it would be much more rational to make Ted meet the Mother in 2013 and not in 2014. That way he can prepare the wedding for 2014 and then have a baby.
