When Demi Lovato releases her much-anticipated new album “Unbroken” on September 20, expect to hear about way more than just the themes echoed inside of lead single “Skyscraper.”
Speaking on Sunday at the VH1 Do Something Awards (where she was also on hand to perform the song live for the first time), Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic had plenty of nice things to say about Demi’s vocal talent, and also some of the music she has coming up.
“Demi blew me out of the water vocally! I had no idea how good her voice is. She’s one of the best singers I’ve ever worked with. Literally, that good…I mean, she’s a Kelly Clarkson-level vocalist. And Kelly has a set of pipes.
“I think everybody wanted to hear her talk about [her struggle in ‘Skyscraper’]. and this [song I worked with her on] is basically flipping it 180, saying, ‘Oh, by the way, I’m still also just young and want to have fun.’ There’s even like a little rap feature on it.”
Tedder was not so kind as to spill the beans on who this feature would be, but he did say that there was a collaboration on this album that would “shock” people, and no one was going to see it coming.
What are you looking forward to the most when it comes to this album, and who do you think this mystery guest could be? (For those wondering, Justin Bieber has already denied the rumors that he is making an appearance.)
