Here’s a completely different outlook.
What if Dexter ends up being a secret sleeper cell. Hear me out.

Harry (possibly CIA) knew from a young age that Dexter was born in blood and nurtured him ever since, teaching him ‘the code’ (programming) from 3 years old. This would also explain Dexter’s Dark Passenger.

Tom (also CIA) has also known everything about Dexter & Deb and worked very hard to get LaGuerta off Dexters back. Any real Captain would follow the evidence.

There are quite a few clues throughout the seasons that would suggest this hypothesis. I look forward to your views

I believe as others have said that the writers are already pretty clear on how they’ll end it. But my dream ending would be with Dexter’s identity and activities being discovered, then his saying his hasty goodbyes to Debra, quickly boarding a plane for some exotic locale, and as he settles into his seat to relax, you then notice that he is starting to feel really ill. The scene then cuts away to Hannah, who is boarding a different plane and a big smile crosses her face as she sits back in her seat and closes her eyes…..fade to black……the end….

I’d love to see it end with dexter finding Harrison, maybe a few years older, standing over the body of an animal he just killed, or something similar. Dexter realizes that his son is the same as be is, and has to make the choice of handling it Harry’s way, or in some other manner. Ultimately the show ends as dexter sits Harrison down and says ‘we need to have a talk’ essentially starting the cycle right over again. Boom, finale.

@ theo we live in a sick world if we think Dexter is a “superhero” if someone has managed to escape the judicial system no one has the right to get justice by killing no one can play god. i like the story is unique and never been done before but i would love the ending where he finally finds peace

Loved the show for 7 seasons but think it’s jumped the shark…. Thought the season-ending show left far too many “loose ends” and it seems everybody but the mailman knows Dex is a serial killer. Laguerta has the DVD of Debra getting gas in a can and signed warrants to get cell phone records for both Dexter and Debra; Debra called dispatch to get Laguerta’s car location via her GPS; then they both stroll back into the party like nothing happened but there’s two bodies sitting in a container and Laguerta was shot with Deb’s service revolver.

Every other season-ending show was pretty much conclusive and yet viewers couldn’t wait for the next season to start – it never ended in a “cliffhanger” and doing so his year was a disservice to its fans!

Even though dexter has seemed like a justice hero or whatever in the past seasons but with the death of laguerta they are trying to make him legit as a serial killer and not just a hero even though dexter living free with deb would be awesome It just seems unreel so if they have to kill him I still want there to be meaning and heart behind the death of this character as we have grown with him through the progress of the show if there is a way to keep the show going do it because I’m such a big fan

I believe Hannah will catch up with Dexter. She will take him out in front of Harrison, just like Dexter’s mom was murdered in front of him. Harrison will be “born in blood” and Deb will become to Harrison what Harry was to Dexter

in my eyes dexter isent a serial killer he is an justice maker ,he is like superman or any other super heroe please dont end this serie and if you must dont let him die

Apparently the writers have already come up with the ending, which makes sense since season 7 is pretty much a build up for season 8… Anyways, as for my personal opinion about how the show should end, I always felt that Dexter being executed on death row via lethal injection would be a fitting end…as for all the other characters and their story lines, I have no idea…I can’t wait to see how Batista reacts to LaGuertas’ death.
