‘The Avengers’ kicks off shooting in Cleveland; Chris Evans spotted

It’s coming…

If you live in certain parts of the United States at the moment, then it’s pretty likely that you are right in the midst of what we could call “superhero fever.” “The Dark Knight Rises” is currently in the process of shooting in Pittsburgh — and now, “The Avengers” is doing the same exact thing in Cleveland.

While not every star from the upcoming Marvel blockbuster was spotted in the area, some looking onlookers did get to check out a brief appearance by Captain America himself — Chris Evans shot some scenes both in and out of his famous costume with director Joss Whedon, and there was also a giant orchestrated exploision with black smoke done between two buildings downtown.

“The Avengers” is bringing together a score of major Marvel heroes, and later this week Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man) is expected to be in town along with Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and others. The film opens on May 4 of next year, and is expected to be the official kick-off tot he summer movie season.
