Mrs Carter: Vegas drive through chapel anyone?
Reba McEntire is hoping that her stepson, Brandon Blackstock’s wedding to “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson will be a big family event, but has now said that it wouldn’t be a total shocker if these two lovebirds just took off and eloped in some crazy romantic way. McEntire spoke to US Weekly about receiving the phone call from Blackstock with the news that he had just proposed to Clarkson, saying that her and her husband Narvel were excited to talk to both of them on the phone. She said: “We were having our Malibu Country cast Christmas party at our house here in L.A. and Narvel got the call from Brandon during dinner and he said, ‘I’ll call you right back,’ and then we got upstairs and each got on the phone and got to talk to both of them.”
So will there be a big glorious wedding with trails of chiffon, flowers and diamonds? Don’t count on it. McEntire said: “[Clarkson] said a while back, ‘Don’t be surprised if we elope!’ And I said, ‘I will not be surprised!'”
On Wednesday Reba and Kelly exchanged a few Twitter posts about the engagement (and wedding plans), where McEntire said that she expects to sing at their wedding, but when Reba heard what song Kelly wanted her to sing, she had her reservations. The conversation went like this:
“@kelly_clarkson And speaking of the engagement, since you are going to be my daughter-in-law, I’m singing at the wedding, right??”
“@reba Obviously! My request is “Let’s Get It On” by Al Green. That’s not awkward, right?”
“@kelly_clarkson We may have to talk about that one later…”
There has been no wedding date mentioned at this point by either Blackstock or Clarkson, telling us that regardless if they elope or keep it small, the intention is to keep it as private as possible. Kelly has never been one to share a lot of details about her personal life, which fans have had much admiration for since these days many stars will gab on and on about their private life without much thought.
