If there was one primary criticism that anyone could make about the first two albums from Susan Boyle, it’s that nothing particularly felt refreshing. The vast majority of her songs have been covers, and despite massive record sales some critics have labeled the Scottish singer as both predictable and “boring” at various times during her career (though we should add that we found them rather enjoyable to listen to).
However, all of that could change with the release of Boyle’s upcoming third album, set to release this fall. The internet sensation has been working with a variety of writers and producers on this next collection, and one of them (in Emeli Sande) has spoken out about how it felt to work with someone of Susan’s vocal caliber:
“She’s an amazing character and incredible artist. I’ve sent the songs over and I’m looking forward to hearing what they sound like. Scotland’s got a lot of great artists and we support one another. It’s good to wave the flag.”
The biggest challenge for Susan on this album is simply going to be relevance — since the release of “The Gift” she has virtually disappeared from the headlines, and will likely need an aggressive marketing push this fall to get people reinvigorated and excited yet again about her story.
Are you still excited about Susan Boyle music?
