‘The Vampire Diaries’: Ian Somerhalder thanks fans for Do Something support

Ian is speaking out.

This is a busy time of year of Ian Somerhalder — so with that in mind, it’s understandable that the actor is not able to necessarily do everything in which he wants.

In a new post on Twitter, for example, “The Vampire Diaries” star explained his sadness at not being able to make it out to Los Angeles for the VH1 Do Something Awards taping Sunday night — which is a tribute to all the great movers and shakers in the charity world:

“Up in a few hours for work-bummed I couldn’t go to the Do Something Awards. Thank you all for rallying for me, I cant thank you enough!”

Ian is hard at work on a number endeavors, from new season 3 episodes of his hit show to photo shoots and of course his charity work with his self-titled foundation.

Season 3 of “TVD” officially premieres on September 15 — meanwhile, the Do Something Awards will actually air on VH1 this Thursday.
