Billy Crystal wants to host the Oscars again

Who will host the 2012 Oscars?

After last year’s sad attempt to host the Academy Awards show by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, fans of the show are nervous about who the Oscars will ask to host the 2012 program.

Billy Crystal has successfully hosted the Oscars 8 times between 1990 and 2004 and the comedian says he’s “itching” to do it again.  Crystal had this to say about the possibility of hosting the Oscars again;

“It got to be too much after a while and the sameness in my life. That’s why I pulled back. And then when I thought I might want to do it again, they were on to other people. It’s always fun. It’s really hard, but maybe one or two more times? I don’t know. They know where I am. I came out last year as a surprise.  It was a last-minute decision. They had called and said would you do this thing and honor Bob Hope and that was a kind of cool thing to do. I said OK. I did it, and people wanted to see me, they stood up, and I couldn’t talk for about a minute. I got a little itchy. So we’ll see what happens. I can’t promise anything.”

After this year’s hosting disaster and all the flack the Academy is getting over giving television host Oprah Winfrey an Oscar even though she hasn’t starred in a movie since 1985, the Academy really needs a win and Billy is just the man to do it.

The 84th Academy Awards show will air on ABC on February 26, 2012.
