Tragedy strikes before Sugarland concert in Indiana due to stage collapse

Sugarland was about to go on stage.

A rather horrifying situation unfolded at the Indiana State Fair on Saturday, as the collapse of a stage just before Sugarland was meant to perform on stage led to four people losing their lives and around 40 people suffering injuries.

As of right now, many are citing heavy winds (which were at times between 60 and 70 miles per hour) as the reason why the massive stage at the fair fell apart. (Someone managed to capture the shocking video, which you can see below.)

After seeing the tragedy unfold Saturday, the country duo wrote the following on their official Twitter account:

“We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you’ll join us. They need your strength.”

Meanwhile, another act who performed at the fair (in singer Sarah Bereilles) also posted a message online:

“I’m speechless and feel so helpless. Please send love and prayers to Indianapolis tonight. My heart aches for the lives lost.”
