Mrs. Carter: There’s some bad news coming out from within the “Downton Abbey” family. We’ll start with a spoiler warning, though: if you have not seen the third season of the show yet, you probably want to stop reading now.
Weeks after the hit ITV1 series went on hiatus before the two-hour Christmas special, the actress responsible for playing the role of Sybil in Jessica Brown Findlay has reportedly called it quits with her boyfriend Thomas Campbell. The two parties originally met at London’s Central St. Martin College of Art, and had been in a relationship for two years. There’s no word on what the reason for the breakup is just yet, but Findlay’s name has become more of a big-ticket item in Hollywood following the death of her character midway through season 3. She is currently one of the actresses being considered to play the female lead in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which is set to start filming in the new year.
One interesting piece of irony with this story is that Findlay’s breakup comes a mere matter of weeks after her former co-star Michelle Dockery also split from her boyfriend Joseph Millson, which means that there is quite a bit of heartache going on with the series at the moment both on and offscreen. Thanks to Sybil’s death, Tom Branson is now set to raise their daughter as a single dad, who he named after her mother, with the help of some other residents of the Abbey.
“Downton Abbey” season 3 will start airing in America on Sunday, January 6, and the Christmas special will follow up the eight original episodes on PBS. There is not much known about this two-hour event just yet, but you can read what we do know by heading over to the link here.
