While on paper “The Bachelor” sounds like a genuine search for love and the sort of reality show that anyone desperate for a relationship would want to try out for, the show is actually much different behind the scenes. You are working long hours, filming without any sort of communication with the outside world, and almost put into a situation where you have absolutely nothing to do or really even to think about other than falling for the person the producers have put as the star of your show. In the case of Courtney Robertson, she has decided to talk to just about anyone who will listen about how the show had a heavy hand in influencing her to fall in love.
Speaking as a part of a new interview with Us Weekly, Courtney, mere weeks after her split from Ben Flajnik was announced, is saying that producers for the show “brainwashed” her at times during filming by more or less doing all of the things that she mentioned above. In addition to that, they would do things like bring her popcorn, which is her favorite snack, on a date and then act as though Ben was responsible making her fall for him.
Is there going to be producer interference on a show like this? It is almost a given considering that there are so many women for a single guy to keep track of. What is unfortunate here is that Ben and Courtney obviously did not get the time in between skinny-dipping and kissing to figure out whether or not they were compatible.
As for what Courtney is doing now, that is more or less questionable in its own right. Does she have the right to speak out about it? Sure, but also sharing production secrets is a bit of a no-no in the entertainment business, and it makes it harder to get gigs in the industry moving forward.
Do you sympathize with what Courtney, who is now dating Arie Luyendyk Jr., is saying, or do you just think that she put herself in this position by going on a reality show to begin with?
