‘Teen Mom 2’: Leah Messer responds to criticism of having another child

Leah MesserMrs. Carter: Is Leah Messer becoming a mom again too early?

Although the reality star may not technically be a “teen mom” when it comes to her age, Messer is still coming under fire by many for getting pregnant with her third child while still at not only a young age, but also as a role model to young people watching “Teen Mom 2” at a weekly basis. She is married for the second time to Jeremy Calvert, and this is not even the first time the two have been expecting (as she suffered a miscarriage last year); however, all of this information is still not changing the minds of the same sort of cynics and critics who have blasted the show left and right in the past.

So what does Messer think about all of this? First and foremost, she tells Us Weekly that she is thrilled to be expecting another child (her first two being with ex-husband Corey Simms), even if she may only be 20 years old:

“I’m not going to say it wasn’t planned, because we intended to try — eventually … It just happened a little sooner than we expected. Our parents are thrilled. It’ll be Jeremy’s parents’ first grandchild, so they’re really excited.”

As for some of the criticism, Messer does not sound as though she is letting any of this get to her in the slightest as she insists that she is ready for another child:

“The path I chose isn’t right for everyone, but it’s right for me … I am financially stable — we just bought our first home — and I’m emotionally fit to have another child. I’m 100 percent prepared — way more than I was at 16.”

What do you think about some of Messer’s comments, and do you think any 20-year old should have three kids? We want to hear what you think below, and you can check out some more “Teen Mom 2” scoop on Kailyn Lowry here.
