Only a matter of hours after some evidence cropped up that Emily Maynard may have a new man in her life, one of the men that she cast aside in order to pick her now ex-fiance Jef Holm on “The Bachelorette” this past summer is officially dating a woman best known for being engaged to Ben Flajnik. (Talk about an incestuous show, right?) Courtney Robertson and Arie Luyendyk Jr. were first spotted kissing each other last month, and have been spotted out on a few other dates since … or at least enough for one of them to come forward and finally confirm they are in a relationship.
Speaking in an interview with Life & Style, Courtney explained that really, her decision to start dating the IndyCar driver, who was heartbroken when Emily dumped him months ago, was based largely on just falling for the right person at the right time:
“I didn’t want to jump from one public relationship to another, but Arie and I get along, and I’m not going to let that get away.”
Courtney says that she and Arie get along so well thanks in part to his great sense of humor; not only does he make her laugh, but the two do seem to genuinely enjoy and appreciate the time they spend together. She did not also let this interview happen without slamming Ben, claiming that she was “miserable” during her relationship with the former “Bachelor” and insinuated that he was afraid of commitment. (He did repeatedly downplay getting engaged on the show earlier this year, and the two took their time getting to know each other rather than moving in together or even living in the same city for a time.)
Do you think Courtney coming forward about her relationship helps or hurts her and Arie in any way? If you want some more scoop on Sean Lowe’s current season of “The Bachelor,” be sure to check out the story here.
