One week after first starting speculation about a baby bump courtesy of a sighting out in Los Angeles, the news is finally official: the former “Veronica Mars” star, who is now a series regular on the Showtime comedy “House of Lies,” has now confirmed that she and her longtime boyfriend Dax Shepard are indeed expecting their first child together. Sources say that the child’s expected due date is in the late spring, which is around the time that new episodes of the show will be finishing up airing on the premium cable channel.
Bell and Shepard have been dating since 2007, and they first announced that they were engaged in early 2010. However, they are putting their own plans to marry on hold until the state of California legalizes same-sex marriage, which is something that another famous couple in Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were hoping to do for some time until their children pressured them into the planning phases of a wedding.
So will this pregnancy impact “House of Lies” season 2 in any way? That much is unclear, but it may be early enough so that the show will just utilize some camera tricks to hide the baby bump, just as so many shows (namely “Grey’s Anatomy,” “True Blood,” and “How I Met Your Mother” in recent years) have done in the past few years. Considering that season 2 premieres on Sunday, January 13, it would be a shock to see it implemented at all into a storyline.
