While much of the talk surrounding the “Bachelor” franchise at the moment is understandably around the breakup of Emily Maynard and Jef Holm, we are focusing some of our attention here instead on another recently-split couple in Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson. These two were engaged for almost a full year before cutting things off, and for a little while here, it even seemed like they were going to be able to rise above most of the tabloid rumors and drama perpetuated by the show in order to have a long and happy life together. Unfortunately, it just did not end up working out at the end of the day, and Courtney recently had to do one of the hardest things ever for someone related to this show: give back the Neil Lane engagement ring that is valued at close to $100,000.
While we are not accustomed to hearing most failed couples talk about this specific part of this experience, Courtney was candid enough this week to share a few thoughts about this process in a post on her Sulia page:
“I’ve had a heavy heart lately but my ring finger is much lighter … It was a sad drive across town to return my engagement ring. Focusing on the present these days.”
We have already seen Courtney in some ways move on from her broken engagement, as she was spotted kissing a former Emily Maynard contestant in Arie Luyendyk Jr. recently. However, she has still not referenced the IndyCar driver or her feelings about him in any post online, and it may have just been a one-time occasion that the two went out together.
How tough of a situation do you imagine it is for these couples to have to give back their ring? If you want to read up some more on Ben and Courtney, you can do so over at the link here.
