I sometimes feel I'm in the minority as I want both Bobby and Castiel as recurring characters. I can't say it was a mistake to kill either off when they have but only if they are resurrected as Sam and Dean have been....over and over again. I think they could blend each character into 5-8 episodes each year and strike a good balance.

Unfortunately, Supernatural is not focused on happy endings...just successful endings that equal the monster is dead no matter the cost. Or is that fortunately since I enjoy the show? I think the difference has been that when Sam and Dean get the axe, it is either a potential end of the series as season 6 felt or you know they'll be back because the show IS them...and the car...or was that season 5? I lose track in my mind, but the season end that saw Sam dunk Lucifer back into his cage.

The show has constantly reminded us that a hunter always dies prematurely and ugly. Retirement isn't in the benefits. So I do fear Bobby has crossed over never to return.

A viewer since season one, I love Dean and Sam, but I also love Castiel. He is an integral part of the show to me now, and it is clear from the ratings of the episode which featured Castiel's return (episode 2) he is important to a LOT of OTHER fans, too. If the powers-that-be still don't recognize that fact, then they are totally blind. The ratings rose 40%, according to Jim Michaels, between the season premiere and episode 2. The presidential debate may have kept a FEW fans away from the season premiere, but NOT 40%. It is clear Misha's Castiel is a DRAW for a LOT of fans of this show. To write him out/kill him off again would damage the show. By the way, I've read comments in some circles that only Destiel fans love Castiel? Reality check to those who make such comments: that's like saying only Wincest fans love Dean and Sam. It's ridiculous and totally untrue.
