‘Glee’ casts Vanessa Lengies as new ‘mean girl’ character Sugar

Who’s joining the show?

We have our newest addition to McKinley High for this season of “Glee” — and if you watched “American Dreams” back in the day, this name is going to feel familiar.

The hit Fox show has reportedly cast Vanessa Lengies (who played Roxanne on the NBC show) to play the role of Sugar — a wealthy student with some rather big delusions of grandeur since she can’t carry a tune to save her life. Then again, we don’t even know for sure yet that this character (who is being described as a “mean girl” and part “New Jersey Housewife”) is going to even be audition for New Directions.

Lengies is just one of many new characters joining the show this season — we also have a new love interest for Mercedes (in Marcus), a Joan Jett-esque rocker girl, someone (played by “The Glee Project” winner) who is going to be a rival for sue, and a geometry teacher who is more than willing to see all arts programs flushed down the drain.

The new season of “Glee” has finally started shooting, and will premiere in late September.
