I'm so sad and so tired of the bickering and fighting among "fans"........the writers are taking the heart & soul out of the show and leaving us all rocking in the corner. The show is about the brothers.....together against the world.....not against each other. There is plenty of drama to be had without making them turn against each other. I know JC says they are suppose to be more mature......but mature does not have to mean not caring about and not loving your brother. Dean seems to be more excited about everyone else he has seen since his return than he was to see Sam! WTF. The characters we are seeing right now don't even seem like Sam & Dean -- please, oh please, let them turn a corner soon and once again be the bad ass brothers fighting evil together and hanging on to each other because that's stone #1! They are bad ass so far, but the distance between them and the secrets they are keeping can only lead to more hurt. I'm trying to keep the faith but I'm hearing more and more fans say they are giving up.

To the commenters above: Yes, I guess Sam giving his life to save the world counts as being selfish and spoiled. Keep in mind that while Dean broke the first seal that started the apocalypse, and Sam broke the last one - both were manipulated into breaking them. Meaning that Sam wasn't responsible for the apocalypse. Yet he still rode the devil all the way to his cage JUST TO SAVE THE WORLD FROM ENDING.

Yes, so so so selfish of him, huh?

Dean has been through more than Sam? Um, no. Hardly. Sam's soul spent twice as long in hell as Dean's. Sam had Lucifer riding around in his head for a year thanks to Cas. Sam lost the love of his life. He was Azazel's chosen one. Doomed since birth. Hardly what I would call a walk in the part. Sorry, but what Dean's been through is nothing more than what Sam has. Perhaps less. Talk about bias. Ding, ding, ding. Dean!girls ova hurr. I swear, the Sam-hate is so pathetic. Find something else to disparage.

Having said that, I don't think Sam will continue with his aspirations for a normal life. These guys have always sacrificed what would make them happy to make sure other people are safe. We haven't seen enough of season 8 to make a logical judgement about why Sam did what he did. I'm sure his reasons will come out soon enough. I, for one, think he was lost. Remember he just spent a year as Lucifer's bitch. Then he lost the only person he had left in the world to thin air. He had nothing to go on. But now that Dean's back? I don't think he'll give up hunting. Sam is too attached to Dean to stay away for long. At least when he knows where Dean is.

I so agree with the above posts. I know that there are Sam fans and Dean fans but I'm a Supernatural Fan and I see that both of the boys have their issues and reasons for hunting. Neither can tell the other what to do. Sam has always been the selfish, spoiled one and Dean has always been the dedicated, driven one. Dean has been through just as much, if not more than Sam and should be given the credit for it!

I agree with the posts above. Looks like these reviews always make Dean seem like the one to make Sam do things. I have not seen even one episode where Sam actually does what Dean tells him to do. He hunts becos of Jess, Lilith etc but not becos Dean told him to. And I agree with roxi, Sam was uncaring in the 1st ep of season 7 but its just glossed over. Sick of these one sided reviews.

For Heaven's sake, 'will Dean let him", are you freakin kidding me? As if Dean has ever been able to stop Sam from doing anything, or make him do anything. The writer of this article apparently has a Sam bias and he/she wrote the article in such a way to make Dean look like a prick. Well, I thought Sam looked like an uncaring jerk who couldn't care less about his brother, yet every review I read just kinda glossed that over. It seems that every journalist is biased for Sam. Dean can't seem to get a fair shake in any of these reviews.

Is Dean going to be able to allow Sam to give up is an interesting question. Will he have any choice? Sam is free, white, and over 21. He did pursue a normal life when he went to Stanford and it was the angels and demons war that manipulated families such as the Campbells, Winchesters and Novaks for generations and consequently pulled Sam back into hunting. But all of that is over; Azazel is dead and the Apocalypse was averted so the vengeance that compelled Sam to hunt is gone. Once the gates of hell are closed why would Sam continue to put his life on the line?
