‘Downton Abbey’ season 3: Joanne Froggatt finds her happy ending

Mrs. Carter: Anna may not have found her happiness just yet on “Downton Abbey,” but you can’t say the same thing for the woman known for playing her.

According to a new report that is coming to us via The Sun, the Emmy-winning actress married her longtime partner James Cannon in a small, private ceremony on October 6. The event was attended by not just close friends and family, but also a few select members of the hit ITV series. Joanne Froggatt has found it difficult at times to plan this ceremony, largely due to the fact that she has a busy TV and film schedule and Cannon works in information technology. In addition to all of this, she also chose to plan her ceremony at what is arguably one of the busiest times of the year for her when the show is actually airing new episodes. (We wonder if there were any employees at her venue that tried to figure out if Bates is going to be released from prison anytime soon.)

Even though this season has undoubtedly been rather difficult for Froggatt’s character, hopefully there will be a happy ending on the horizon for Anna just as there was for the actress playing her. After all, isn’t there only so long that the show can continue to press forward with a story that is all about Bates in prison? Sooner or later, the man has to either be exonerated or sentenced for good. Last week’s episode was clearly one of the most tragic of the entire season thus far, as Anna had thought Bates had given up on her (and vice versa) due to a lack of letters that were now flowing properly.

Are you happy for Joanne? Be sure to share your congratulations below, and you can also watch the first promo for Sunday night’s new “Downton Abbey” episode over at the link here.
