‘America’s Got Talent’: Matt Wilhelm advances, The Kinetic King returns

Who is staying?

When it comes to Wednesday night’s episode of “America’s Got Talent,” we actually had a surprise — an act who went last during the competition that did not end up making it to the next round. Yes, we are talking about Powerhouse — who is probably just going to have to go and hang their hat on being the “inspiration” for “Glee.”

As for the acts that did advance, here is who America selected:

Gymkana – The rather brilliant group of ladder acrobats.

Matt Wilhelm – He won the YouTube contest, and he rode is bicycle in the dark. This was a no-brainer.

Kevin Colis – Usually at this point, we would complain that there are too many generic young male singers. Thankfully, Colis is really the first guy to advance who even comes close to fitting the mold — and he is still a little different.

Beth Ann Robinson – She was the judges’ pick, and now there is a solo dancer in the semifinals.

The show also announced that the following acts were going to appear during the wild-card show next week, and there were a few surprises — first, you don’t bring back the Captain and Maybelle? To make matters worse, the show then announced that Those Funny Little People (who are neither funny nor little) and The Kinetic King (who had the biggest disaster in show history) would be among the twelve acts returning along with magician Landon Swank, comedian J. Chris Newberg, and singing group Avery and the Calico Hearts.
