We’ve written quite a bit over the past month about Emily Maynard and Jef Holm, and also what the two have done time and time again in order to deflect some of the talk surrounding a possible split. The most recent bit of evidence? That the two were spotted at a Carolina Panthers game together over the weekend, and they appeared happy and were snapping photos with fans. However, there is a rumor coming out now that has a little more credibility than some of the others, mostly because it’s coming from a guy who has laughed at some of the breakup stories in the past. Reality Steve (who is notorious for spoiling this show and angering executive producer Mike Fleiss) is reporting that Emily and Jef broke up this past weekend, and the two are currently in the process of trying to figure out just what they want to do in regards to releasing a statement and confirming a split.
The two have been a little more quiet lately when it comes to tweeting each other online, and Jef’s recent post of “what comes easy wont last. What lasts won’t come easy” certainly has an ominous air to it.
However, we are still at least somewhat hesitant to believe any story for a number of reasons. First, even though Steve has been right about all sorts of stories regarding the show before, he still has a few blemishes here and there on his record. He also even notes himself a few things that work against his own story: there was the football game sighting, and Emily and Jeff still have pictures of each other up on their respective Twitter accounts.
Really at this point, it’s probably better to just adopt a philosophy of not believing anything until it’s official. It’s not so much a burn against Steve or any other site with sources (mostly because Us Weekly, who has been claiming there to be turmoil for some time now, has been wrong a number of times). It’s more of an approach to ensure that we don’t get burned again.
What do you think about this new report, especially with the recent split of Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson also in mind?
