So how is Courtney Robertson doing following the news that she and the man who picked her on “The Bachelor” are over? While she certainly does appear to be sad, this does look like an occasion where life does go on rather than this being to sit around and wallow in her own self-pity. Courtney was spotted recently in workout gear out and about in California, and she was not wearing the $85,000 Neil Lane engagement ring that was provided by the show and given to her by Ben Flajnik. Could you make a case that maybe she just doesn’t wear the ring when she works out? Sure, but it would be a moot point considering that the two confirmed their split in a statement last week.
This is the second time that the couple has broken up, as they first spent some time apart while the season aired, a time in which Ben was feeling the pressure over critics blasting him for choosing Courtney consistently over countless other women who were continuously kinder both to him and in confessionals behind the scenes. (Courtney did apologize for some of her behavior later.)
As for what happens to the ring now, the general assumption is that it goes back to the show. There are certain provisions in the show’s contract when it comes to keeping the ring, one of them being that the couple must return it if they do not marry or if their engagement fails to last for a certain period of time. We don’t know what that cut-off date is, but the show wants to give the impressions that these are rings that are earned, and they are not just given away to everyone who manages to come on the show and make it very far in a season.
