Despite all sorts of rumors and controversy that lasted for the better part of the summer, we finally have the official word — Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson are all coming back on “American Idol” next season.
The news was made official via executive producer (and “So You Think You Can Dance” head judge) Nigel Lythgoe, who was a special guest on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Wednesday morning:
“I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of American Idol [Seacrest] is back for the next season.”
The most recent talk suggested that J. Lo (who was “on the fence” about coming back thanks to various other work commitments) was going to receive $20 million for her services moving forward — but also that Tyler was also now looking for a raise thinking that he was just as valuable to the success of the show last year.
Are you happy that the full panel is returning for sure, or will you be actually happier when the judges actually start giving something resembling more of a full-fledged critique?
