It’s the story that does not seem to be going away, and it probably will not until a decision is made on who is actually going to star in the upcoming “50 Shades of Grey” movie: just who is going to play the part of one Christian Grey? From a TV perspective, two of the names that we have heard bandied about the most in the tabloids are Ian Somerhalder of “The Vampire Diaries” and Matt Bomer of “White Collar,” but that doesn’t mean that either one of these two are on some sort of short list. As a matter of fact, the producers behind this project are not saying a word, and probably will not say a word until after the find a director for the project.
Nonetheless, author E.L. James made an appearance this week on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, and she was of course asked about all all of the casting rumors. When Somerhalder’s name was mentioned, she did admit to being a fan of “The Vampire Diaries,” but refused to say anything further. She pretty much gave the same reaction to people like Ryan Gosling (rumored by many to be in consideration), Jeremy Renner, Chris Pine, and even Steve Carell, who would clearly by the funniest Christian Grey but would also cause most fans of the series to throw their books at the screen.
With all this in mind, it’s really just best to continue to take Ian’s own advice here and just ignore the talk for the time being. After all, the guy does have quite a bit on his plate even without this project in the works: season 4 of the CW series is taping, and he also has all of his environmental causes attached through his foundation.
Do you think that Somerhalder is going to be forever linked to the Christian Grey role until they just finally come out and say who is playing the part? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below! If you want to see some more about what is happening to Ian’s Damon on “The Vampire Diaries” this season, be sure to head over to the link here.
