While the new season of “Project Runway” is currently airing on Lifetime, the show is also currently prepping for the launch of their new All-Stars series set to debut on October 25; and with that very thing in mind, doesn’t it seem like an appropriate time to introduce the new cast?
On Thursday, the following designers from seasons past have already been booked to be heading back in order to show off their skills for a second time: Wendy Pepper (Season 1); Andrae Gonzalo (Season 2); Uli Herzner, Kayne Gillaspie (Season 3); Suede Baum (Season 5); Althea Harper (Season 6); Emilio Sosa (Season 7); Ivy Higa, Cassanova, Peach Carr (Season 8); Laura Kathleen, Joshua McKinley, Anthony Ryan Auld (Season 9). Carolyn Murphy is going to be the new host for the show, so there is still going to be a major air of uncertainty on this season. (Heidi Klum continues to host the primary version of the franchise.)
While we are pretty big fans of the “Project Runway” franchise, the real question that we have now is whether or not this is the sort of show that can really sustain itself. After all, there are only so many contestants from every season that can really be considered “All-Stars” when it comes to both talent and screen presence, and we feel that after this season, it may be in the show’s best interest if they opt to take a little bit of time off moving forward so that they can re-focus on some of contestants on the primary version of the show. We like to think of these sort of shows as the Olympics: they’re better once every few years.
What do you think about this cast, and do you agree that it is better for the franchise to take a bit of a breather after this one for a while? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts below, and we will have more when it comes to “Project Runway” over at the link here.
