‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 spoilers: How guilty will Alex feel?

Before we get to the season premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy” airing on ABC Thursday night, it only feels appropriate to share one last scoop related to a character who is going to dealing with some rather tough emotions early on this season … that is, at least until he manages to find love at some point during it. Of course, we are talking about a man who has been more or less neglected since the days of Izzie in Justin Chambers’ Dr. Alex Karev.

Speaking to TV Guide, however, executive producer Shonda Rhimes was kind enough to present us with what is at least a fine morsel related to Alex to chew on for a little bit before we arrive at the first episode of the new season:

“There is some very dark stuff happening for him in terms of that idea … He’s trying not to feel guilty and trying not to feel a sense of responsibility, but he does.”

So how long will it be before we finally end up seeing Alex getting over this? Surely, it will not be in the first episode tonight, as we are getting ready to bear witness to the massive tragedy potentially known as either Arizona or Mark biting the dust. Is it possible that they both survive? Sure, but judging based on the fact that Eric Dane is leaving the show, their lives are still never going to be the same … and Alex will in part feel that he is one of the reasons behind that happening. (We’ll know the answer there within hours.)

Are you excited to see something out of Alex that is both interesting and a meaty plot? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and check out a few final details about the premiere by heading on over to this link.
