If you are like us, then you are probably still reeling from the shocking and tragic news that is coming out today: actor Johnny Lewis, who is perhaps best known for dating Katy Perry (prior to her becoming a star) and appearing as Half-Sack for two seasons of “Sons of Anarchy,” was found dead after allegedly killing his 70-year old landlord and then falling off of the roof of his house.
One of the biggest support systems Lewis had during his career is now speaking out, but surprisingly, not everything being said is sugarcoated as we often see when people pass. Speaking in a new statement on his WhoSay page, here is what “Sons of Anarchy” executive producer Kurt Sutter had to say about the difficult road that Lewis made the decision to go down in his life:
“not sure if folks know this yet, but johnny lewis (halfsack) died last night. the sad irony of it happening two days after opie’s death is not lost on me. it was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. i wish i could say that i was shocked by the events last night, but i was not. i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. yes, it’s day or mourning, but it’s also a day of awareness and gratitude. sadly, some of us carry the message by dying.”
Lewis’ passing is a particularly sad one given his talent, and the fact that it was clear that there were all sorts of other paths that he could have chosen to go down. This would have likely been his third arrest in the past year, and it may be some time before we figure out some additional details as to how this fight started that led to his death.
Thoughts and condolences are with the families of all parties involved.
