As it turns out, Gabby Douglas and Ryan Lochte are not the only ones who are going to be joining CW shows this fall as guest stars. Now, we know that a person famous for not being very impressed as something to be very pleased about: she’s taking off to Bluebell.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Olympic gold-medal gymnast McKayla Mulroney is going to be appearing in an upcoming episode of “Hart of Dixie” season 2. Want to hear some other surprising news? She is not actually going to be playing the part of herself. Rather, Mulroney will take on the part of Tonya, who is a high-school student who stands up for Zoe’s resident protegee in Rose. Considering that Mulroney is still a teenager (which is hard to remember given all of her success), it is very much the perfect role for her.
So what is with The CW casting so many Olympians at the moment? Really, the answer here is simple: headlines like these. the network does not have that many opportunities to promote themselves to viewers outside of their network, and this is something that is in many ways free advertising. These athletes want a way to stay in the spotlight given that their sport only is once every four years, and this show helps them boost their platform and try something new; meanwhile, it is possible that a show like “Hart of Dixie” may have some extra “Fierce Five” fans tuning in this season to watch. It’ll be fun to see whether or not Mulroney has the chops, but above all it should make for a rather fun cameo that she’ll remember the rest of her life.
