Just in case you were wondering, it appaers that AMC is already getting themselves ready for many more zombies from the world of “The Walking Dead” … even beyond the conclusion of a lengthier season 3.
As SpoilerTV points out, AMC Blogs are actually giving away a prize in a contest right now that includes a trip to the show’s set for a visit during season 4 taping. Does this mean that we have an official renewal here? No, but we do have a very easy assumption to make. As a matter of fact, we don’t even have to act as though this is stunning news at all: “The Walking Dead” was the highest-rated hour of scripted television in basic cable history earlier this year in the key 18-49 demographic, and even if it drops by a decent margin (which is very unlikely) the show will be renewed. The only situation that we see the show not coming back is in the event of some enormous catastrophe, like the ratings fall off a cliff or something happens in production that makes this show impossible to return to moving forward.
Season 3 of “The Walking Dead” will be shifting to a prison setting for the first time, and we are also going to see such popular characters from the Robert Kirkman comic including Michonne and The Governor. AMC is also using a little bit different of a promotional strategy this time compared to what we saw from the series in the past; namely, they are hyping up the living as an even greater threat to the lives of Rick and some of the other survivors as the dead.
How long do you think that a show like “The Walking Dead” can realistically run for without getting old? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and you can hear some more thoughts from Andrew Lincoln over at the link here.
