In just a matter of three weeks, “The Walking Dead” is going to be back on AMC with new episodes. To make things even more interesting, we do already know for sure about one character people are jumping up and down to see: Michonne.
As you saw in the promo late last week, Michonne is someone who is going to be loved by the fans, but in some ways feared by everyone else. It’s hard to figure out just what her intentions are all of the time, but there is still one thing that we know about her for sure already: she speaks softly and carries a rather large sword.
So what does Danai Gurira have to say about having this sort of weapon around her at all times? Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, here is what the actress had to say on this very subject, including how the weapon is essential for transforming her into the person that she is:
“It became of an extension for her of many things … Of a rebirth into a new world. Not the world than anyone would ever want, but one that she’s damn sure gonna make sure she survives in — and thrives in.”
What is a little unclear at the moment is just how much of Michonne’s story is going to be integrated into this show, including just what her own history is going to be with The Governor (who she has a pretty devastating experience with in the Robert Kirkman series). The show’s writers and producers are most definitely aware of just popular this character is, though, and we will have a feeling that they will get it right without a problem.
