Over the course of the past five years, we have see Alexander Skarsgard develop quite a knack for dramatic television courtesy of his role as Eric Northman on “True Blood.” So with that in mind, isn’t it possible that he could be looking into venturing out into some other genres, as well?
Based on what the actor is saying now as a part of a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, it is looking more and more like the man is trying to stretch himself a little bit beyond dealing with Bill Compton as a vampire god within the next year:
“I need to find something withDanny McBride or Will Ferrell, something like that … I need a comedy. I need something fun.”
One interesting avenue for Skarsgard could be to test the waters a little bit by appearing in one episode of a comedy show elsewhere, and then seeing what happens moving forward from there. Couldn’t he be Britta’s secret giant brother in “Community,” or an imposing man Phil meets on “Modern Family” while out on a job? Ryan Kwanten did a great job earlier this year guest-starring as a dim-witted hook-up buddy for Zooey Deschael’s Jess on “New Girl,” and it may have helped him to boost his comedy platform a little bit more for when the time comes that the HBO show is no longer o the air.
At the moment, Skarsgard does have a few opportunities open for some side projects. Why? Thanks in part to Anna Paquin’s recent pregnancy, filming on season 6 is not expected to begin until early next year; and even with that, the new season is only going to be ten episodes long.
