‘Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars’: Tom Bergeron promises ‘tougher’ season

We have been hearing about the upcoming All-Stars season of “Dancing with the Stars” for some time now, but on Monday night, the show is finally going to be back on ABC with new episodes.

So what does the man behind the action on this show have to say about what to expect? Speaking in a new interview with KTLA (which you can see below), Emmy-nominated host Tom Bergeron admitted he had his favorites on every season, but declined to say them as he talked instead about how the show is going to have a far tougher feel to it now that we have so may strong dancers on it that the show knows very well already:

“I’m truly excited for the entire cast … I think it’s going to be a whole different show because of it … the nice thing is that I don’t have to be nice to everyone because we’re friends.”

Bergeron also said that there are times that he also ends up siding with the contestants and turning against the judges, who he feels do cross the line at times and be harsh when they don’t have to be. Our favorite line of the entire interview? When Tom claims to Bruno Tonioli that he is just “a few hand gestures away from becoming Pixar.” This one comment is in many ways we love watching him as a host so much: he does not feel so Hollywood per se, and is really a regular guy with a great wit who loves to make people laugh. In many ways, we can’t see this show working without him.
