In that is a serious case of the media not reading over ever quote carefully, Maksim Chmerkovskiy is leaving “Dancing with the Stars” after 15 seasons; however, this does not mean that he is leaving the show after its 15th season which runs through the end of 2013.
Speaking in a new interview with the New York Post, here is what the show’s most notorious pro (who is also one of the most popular) had to say about his move to say goodbye to the ballroom:
“What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons? It makes total sense. The audience can’t expect for me to want to stick around, and the producers can’t expect for me to want to stick around.”
As for what he will do following the show, Maks looks to do films, other TV work, and of course continue to teach ballroom dancing to students all around the world; ultimately, this does make it a good time for him to go. All good things must come to an end eventually, and it is always better off to go out on your own terms. Derek Hough has already stated his plans to leave the show once the season this fall is over, so it looks like producers are going to have to get to work rather quickly trying to cast some more pros who will not only be popular, but also great teachers to their celebrities.
Maks may also want to get out of the show spotlight to not have to deal with some nasty and unfair stories about his life, which have plagued him especially over the past several months.
The new season of “Dancing with the Stars” premieres on Monday, and you can check out our predictions for Maks and his partner Kirstie Alley over at the link here. How do you think that he is going to fare this season? We want to hear your thoughts below!
