‘Modern Family’ season 4 spoilers: Matthew Broderick is in!

Phil is going to have a new friend on the upcoming fourth season of “Modern Family” … and it also happens to be someone with plenty of experience of his own in comedies.

According to a report from TVLine, Matthew Broderick is going to be guest-starring in at least one episode of the hit ABC comedy, where he will be playing a new (and rather neurotic) character, even though he does not¬†currently¬†have a name attached to him. We can confirm that he is going to at least be a good friend to Ty Burrell’s character of Phil, who may or may not have a plotline this season about making sure that he and Claire do not have more children.

Broderick joins a long line of impressive guest stars that have been recruited to the show in the past, and if he plays his cards right, it is also possible that he could see himself with a guest-acting Emmy Award at this point next year. Broderick already has a pretty impressive resume with hit comedies, and it includes roles on such hit shows as “30 Rock” and FX’s “Louie.”

There is one other lovely piece of irony here in that Broderick’s own wife Sarah Jessica Parker is going to be making an appearance in multiple episodes on “Glee” this season, where she will be playing a mentor to Chris Colfer’s popular character of Kurt. (Be sure to check out the first photo of her on set.)
