On Tuesday night’s new episode of “Sons of Anarchy,” we easily had what was one of the stranger, and yet somehow touching, weddings in recent years between Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Tara (Maggie Siff). While this was easily a lovely moment between these two characters, it was somehow made even lovelier courtesy of seeing so many people show up, and seeing Gemma show up and actually contribute to the ceremony via the rings.
So did this one gesture mean that these two female characters are going to finally reach some sort of understanding? Based on what Siff recently told The Huffington Post in a new interview, the answer here is “yes” with a little bit of “no ” mixed in:
“I think this season they really go in-and-out, and in-and-out of having an uneasy understanding. The deep level truth about them is having a mother-daughter relationship, and as painful as it is, Gemma really is her only mother figure. So to take the rings from her and in a moment to sort of accept that she wants her and needs her … there is some way in which she wants her there.”
The idea that these two characters may start to develop some sort of mutual understanding may be even more important once you remember the ominous news that a major character is going to die in the coming episodes. If it is one of these there, that is going to turn the emotional dynamic of this show on its head; meanwhile, it could also cause plenty of problems if it is someone else close to SAMCRO who bites the dust.
Can you see a situation moving forward this season where Tara and Gemma finally have some sort of functioning relationship? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below! If you want to take a further look at this season, be sure to visit the link here.
