‘Harry Potter’ passes ‘Lord of the Rings’ for #3 all-time internationally

A boy wizard has just managed to conquer a group of hobbits, and as a result, it as moved into the #3 spot all-time when it comes to international box-office receipts.

The final chapter of the “Harry Potter” saga has now officially grossed $1.14 million in global sales — and in doing so, has passed “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.” Granted, the J.R.R.¬†Tolkien¬†adaptation does still have an edge when it comes to overall attendance (especially since you have to remember inflation), but “Potter” does still have a little bit of life left in the tank.

Unfortunately for the muggles muggles out there, it’s not likely that we are going to be seeing “Potter” climb any higher. “Titanic” is #2 on the list with over $1.7 million in the bank, while “Avatar” has over a billion more than that. (However, as a whole the “Potter” franchise is the most-popular of all time.)

Are you happy to see the “Potter” saga get this celebratory icing on the cake?
